The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service, theDistricthas a currentoperating budget of $268million and employs approximately 3,500 staff which includesteachers, principals and vice-principals, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.

The Greater VictoriaSchool District(SD61)is seekinga School Technologist(Relief/Spareboard).The successful candidate will be responsible forimplementingandsupportingtechnologyin schoolsand will be working as part of a team of technologists led bytheDirector, IT for Learning.

The successful candidatewill:

  • Install computer software, configure hardware systems, maintain current network configurations and troubleshoottechnologyproblems on a variety of different platforms(primarilyWindows,but may include Apple).
  • Troubleshooting technical issues impacting teaching, learning, and department operations
  • Proactively manage, maintain, and service technology to minimize disruptions due to technology issues
  • Support the introductionof new educational technology.
  • Work with school district staff to assist them in their use of technology.

The successful candidatewill have:

  • Twoyearpost-secondary Diploma in Computer Science from an accredited college or university.
  • Two yearsfull-time experience in an equivalent position within the IT industry.
  • Experience in the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of technology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication andcollaboration skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and employ a customer service approach to support
    • Experience with appropriate software applications including the following: Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Internet Browsers, Enterprise Management Tools, Operating systems.
    • Ability toworkwellwithin a team and applytact and courtesy when explaining and exchanging ideas, data and information.

Thisposition falls within the CUPE collective agreement and has a pay rate of$31.23per hour(+ 13% in lieu of benefits).
